Spotlighting Brother Becca Taylor-Storm
Sophomore | Supply Chain and Information Systems, B.S.
Dear Rushee,
Coming to Penn State, stepping onto a massive campus felt both thrilling and completely overwhelming. I knew I needed to find my footing, but I honestly didn't want to rush a massive sorority or join random clubs that lacked a truly tight-knit community. I wanted to find a space that was unique and small enough to genuinely know everyone, somewhere I could build a real home away from home where everyone shares a genuine drive. When friends first mentioned rushing AKPsi, I hesitated because it honestly sounded like a ton of work on top of navigating my freshman year. But looking back, I would not have it any other way.
From my very first rush events, any worries I had about fitting in vanished. The brothers did not care about putting on a performance. Every conversation felt intentional, warm, and deeply authentic. As a Smeal Supply Chain student, I wanted professional growth, but what captured me was the genuine care and diverse perspectives across the brotherhood. Whether we were talking about career goals or laughing over nothing, I felt valued immediately. What stood out consistently was the inclusivity of the brotherhood. There were no cliques, and everyone felt included.
Taking that leap changed everything. I dove right in, serving as Zeta Tau’s inductee class secretary and later stepping into Merchandise and Public Relations positions. Collaborating with driven peers pushed me past my comfort zone in the best ways possible. I have learned so much from even the smallest interactions, whether we were organizing assets for the chapter or brainstorming new ways to connect with our community. More importantly, the people in this chapter quickly became my closest friends, turning ordinary study sessions, late-night meetings, and lively game days into my absolute favorite memories.
If you are currently feeling nervous about walking into rush events, please know that you do not need to change a single thing about who you are to belong here. The right community embraces your quirks, your ambition, and your authentic self right from the start. Keep an open mind, ask real questions, and let yourself fully embrace the journey.
Choosing to join this fraternity completely transformed my college experience. It brought me unforgettable mentors, incredible creative opportunities, thousands of memories, and a second family that makes Penn State feel small in the absolute best way. Take that leap of faith and discover your true experience here. You might just find that it completely redefines what college means to you, just like it did for me.
Best,
Becca Taylor-Storm
